Sustainability at Mantra Parramatta

At Mantra Parramatta, we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are delighted to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have made a significant decision to eliminate single-use dry amenities, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment. Instead, guests can request biodegradable dry amenities by calling room service or visiting our friendly team at reception.

Large Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have made the proactive decision to move to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we are significantly reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations.

Food Waste

At Mantra Parramatta, we are committed to reducing food wastage and promoting sustainable practices across our food and beverage outlets and conferencing department. We understand the importance of minimising our environmental impact while delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests.

  • Weighing food waste 4x per month to ensure reduction protocols are effective
  • Implementation of waste reduction strategies including seasonal menu, local suppliers and ordering policy
  • Buffet leftovers placed in staff lunch room for team members

Recycling

At Mantra Parramatta, all hotel waste is separated into co-mingle, cardboard, food waste and general waste, minimising our impact on landfill.  In addition, we have taken a number of steps to further reduce water and embrace a circular system.

  • Use local suppliers to support local economy and limit transportation emissions
  • Bulk Ordering to minimise delivery frequency
  • Removal of all single use plastics or substituted with biodegradable alternatives

Community Support

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible.

  • Engaged with Local MP on community activations
  • Engage and support local sporting teams
  • Provide support to local charities such as Parramatta Mission and ParraParents

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Dharug people, the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate our business. We pay respects to Elders past present and emerging and extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We are proud to be a Sustainable Tourism Certified hotel with Ecotourism Australia. The Sustainable Tourism Certification program assesses our environmental, socio-economic, cultural and responsible management principles to ensure we are minimising our negative impacts and maximising benefits for the environment, communities and culture. This achievement reinforces our ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable hospitality and creating positive impacts for our team, guests, local community and planet.

Accessibility

At Mantra Parramatta, we strive to accommodate the diverse needs of all our guests, including those with mobility challenges. We currently have 6 dedicated accessible rooms with wider entry ways, lower light switches and open bathroom facilities for the comfort of ALL ability guests.

All pathways, corridors and turning circles are wide and accessible, allowing for easy navigation with mobility aids such as wheel chairs, walkers and mobility scooters. External entries to the hotel are flat and do not require intervention for access by mobility aids. Our carpark features 3 Accessible parking spaces on both levels of the car park (total 6), with access to Reception and accommodation levels via the double door lifts.

Assistance animals are welcomed at property with their person. Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) forms are completed at check-in for any impaired guests, so that in the event of an emergency consideration is made for every occupant of the building. Additionally, our friendly staff are available to assist with any specific accessibility needs or requests to ensure that every guest enjoys a comfortable and memorable stay with us.
